Deputy Chief
Rodney Owens is a Graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale,
having received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Administration of
Justice. He began his law enforcement
career in 1995 with the Chicago Housing Authority Police Department; and became
a member of the Richton Park Police Department in December of 1999. Deputy
Chief Owens has experience as a South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT)
member, Field Training Officer (FTO), Breathalyzer Operator, Juvenile Officer, and
Tactical Officer. He moved up through
the ranks from patrol, corporal, sergeant and now Deputy Chief. Prior to being appointed to the Deputy
Chief’s position, he was assigned to Detective’s Division as the Detective
Sergeant in charge of that unit. He is
currently responsible for all police operations.
